So this is my first eye shadow that I ever bought and subsequently this is my first review. So I would really appreciate it if you guys gave feedback on the review, writing, if you have used the palette or so.
Claims: A versatile quatret of high intensity powders put together to colour, shape and highlight your eyes like never before
Shades that are available : Golden, Pink/baby pink, Red-brick and Copper.
So let’s get started with the review alright, this is a quad called Dessert Rose from their 9 to 5 range. As it’s a quad it has four shadows- 2 light ones and 2 dark ones. These shadows can be used individually or in duos or mix the entire thing – it’s up to you and it works well. L
The pigmentation of the shadows is decent (especially for a beginner), but you may need about 2-3 layers to get the gold and the pink showing through. The dark shades are much easier to see through in that way.
The light shades give the eye a glimmer and I would say they are perfect shades for weddings where you don’t want to over do with makeup and just add the slightest bit of colour to the eyes. These shades also prove to be perfect transition shades into makeup; like I said for beginners and you don’t really want to draw much attention to yourself. When you use these light shades you can use the darker shades to add it in the crease and create some depth.
The darker shades can be applied on the whole lid and will be good to go for the entire day. You can take the lighter shades for highlight at the brow or at the inner corners.
The shadows do transfer and have a lot of fall out. But that can be fixed with a little bit of fix spray and a bit of primer; both of which I do not own – so this resulted in having a layer of shadow underneath my eye after application. On second thoughts I think a wet brush could help- maybe? The shade that I did notice has a lot of fallout was the copper shade. Ironically enough that is the one that I am most obsessed with.
Another thing that you must remember about the quad is that all the shades are shades are shimmery- even the darkest shades have a bit of glitter in them. This in my opinion makes it tough when you want to use it as a crease shadow. But I’m sure you can find a matte shade in your vanity that will help you deal with this problem.
On the bright side, You can create a number of looks even with this small palette, in my opinion because it a easy palette to work with. I use a bit of Lakmé’s kajal to add a bit of smokiness to some looks that I have tried to create. So there’s your options.
- It is a good beginners palette
- It has everyday shades- some shades can be used for weddings too.
- Good price
- Pigmentation is decent
- Good size for the price
- Fall out
- All the shades have a slight shimmer to it.
