Pongal Celebrations in College (Indian Harvest Festival)

Hey guys,

Recently in India we celebrated the harvest festival. It is the day that we give thanks to the earth for giving us the food that we get everyday. In college, we celebrated the festival called pongal- which is what the harvest festival is called in Tamil Nadu. Traditionally on this day we keep pongal, which is a delicacy made from rice in a pot and then distribute it to others. In college, every department had to set up their own fire and cook the rice.

These are some photographs that of the festival.

Oh by the way, I did take a lot more pictures of people as students and faculty were asked to come in traditional attire- a saree for girls and veshti for the boys. I cannot post those pictures as I do not want to put up friends pictures on the internet.

Do you have a harvest festival in your country? Write to me in the comments.

Keep Smiling Always.
